Victor De La Cruz recently finished his coursework in pursuit of a Doctorate of Musical Art in Choral Conducting at the Bienen School of Music and is currently faculty at Rio Hondo Whittier College. While at Northwestern University, he directed the Northwestern Camerata, a treble ensemble made up of both music and non-music majors at both the undergraduate and graduate level. He previously earned a Master of Music in Choral Conducting from the College-Conservatory of Music at the University of Cincinnati in the spring of 2016.
During his studies, he served as the director of the UC’s Cabaret Singers, an ensemble which performs both traditional and popular music. Mr. De La Cruz also has worked in sacred music, currently holding the position of Director of Choral Ministries at San Clemente Presbyterian Church, as well as previously at Palisades United Methodist Church (CA) from 2011-2014 and at Blue Ash Presbyterian Church (OH) from 2014-2016. He has participated in ensembles and conducting workshops led by conductors such as Craig Hella Johnson, John Williams, John Alexander, William Dehning, Jerry Blackstone, Robert Porco, Dominick DiOrio, Earl Rivers, Brett Scott, and Robert Istad.
Mr. De La Cruz is also an accomplished educator, having served as Director of Choirs at San Juan Hills High School (CA) from 2010-2014, where he facilitated the immense growth of the choral music program and oversaw student-led ensembles. In addition to his graduate degrees, Mr. De La Cruz holds a Bachelor of Arts in Music Education and Single-Subject Teaching Credential from California State University, Fullerton.
